It is possible that a public machine has keylogger installed which stores all the keystrokes... this makes your userids and passwords available to the administrator of the machine... its always safe not to use your public machine for personal work, but when utmost required you should follow this best practice while typing any sensitive information.
- say you need to enter password, key in first and last characters of the password, change the cursor position by keyboard/mouse and key in other characters... This way you ll prevent your true password getting stolen as most keyloggers store simultaneous keystrokes...</description>
